On Tuesday, October 9, the First Deputy Chairman of the Council of Muftis of Russia, Rushan Abbyasov, met the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Brunei Darrusalam in the Russian Federation, Haini Hashim. Artur Gubaidullin, expert of the International Department of the Russia Muftis Council, also took part in the meeting.

During the meeting, Rushan Abbyasov spoke about the productive visit of the RMC delegation to Brunei Darrusalam, which took place on 25-27 September. He also told the Ambassador that during this visit the members of the Russian delegation had a number of meetings with Brunei government officials, including Badaruddin Othman (Minister of Religious Affairs), Aminuddin Abidin (Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports), Abdul Aziz Dzhuned (official mufti), Norarfan Zainal (Rector of the Sharif Ali Islamic University). Rushan Abbyasov noted that the main purpose of his visit to Brunei was to present the “Islamic Traditions in Russia” exhibition.

The Ambassador Haini Hashim highly appreciated the visit of the Russian delegation to Brunei. In addition, he thanked the Russian party for choosing Brunei as the first foreign venue for the exhibition, noting that such events contributed to the development of mutual understanding and cooperation.

During the meeting, Rushan Abbyasov informed the Ambassador about the current RMC projects, namely the 19th  International Quran Reciting Competition, which will be held on 21 October 21 at Crocus City Hall in Moscow, as well as the Moscow Halal Expo International Exhibition, which will take place on 4 November this year.

The parties agreed to maintain cooperation and joint activities aimed at strengthening friendly and mutually beneficial relations between Russia and Brunei.
