With regard to the recent terrorist attacks in Moscow, the European Muslim Union Foundation declares the following statement:
The news of the tragic recent
events, the terrorist suicide bombings in the heart of Moscow, has stricken us
with indignation and great distress.
Suicide attacks are detestable
crimes, unjustifiable and condemned according to Islamic Law, as is any form of
indiscriminate killing of civilians, and can therefore never be attributed to
Islam nor can it be the basis for any just cause or claim.
Delegations from the EMU have been guests
on various occasions in Moscow and the member organisations of the EMU feel
solidarity and share the grief with the citizens of Moscow and the Russian
people and we convey our sincere condolences on behalf of the EMU board and our
member organisations.
We hope that Moscow continues to be a stage for
Muslim-Russian encounters and that efforts taken in the past towards cooperation
and mutual understanding will not be overshadowed by this hateful
event.
