Chairman of Russia Muftis Council Supports Putin’s Syrian Initiative The way of dialogue and peaceful settlement is the only way of solving Syrian crisis, and Muslims of Russia fully share the position and moves of Russian leadership in this matter, said Chairman of Russia Muftis Council mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, speaking to the guests and participants of XIV Moscow International Qur’an Reciting Competition.

“We thank President Vladimir Putin and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation for their peace efforts and their concernment over the fates of Muslims and their Christian brothers in Syria. I personally fully share the position of our president Vladimir Putin that he expressed in his New York Times article,” said Ravil Gaynutdin according to RMC press service.

Putin, in particular, criticized the idea of American exceptionalism. Russia has also declared that it doesn’t support any of the sides of the conflict, but would oppose coercive intervention.

The mufti reminded that according to the Qur’an and ahadith, “murder of a single man equals the murder of all humankind”. “I want to address both my Syrian brothers and sisters and the world community as a whole: however difficult the path of dialogue and reconciliation may be, it has no alternative; we must look for ways to end this conflict peacefully,” said Gaynutdin.

According to the mufti, Muslims pray to God, asking him “to put desire of peace into Syrians’ hearts, so that both sides of the conflict would forgive each other and start peaceful dialogue that would return peace to that blessed land.”
