Today, on December 17, as a result of joint efforts of lawyer Murad Musaev and Russia Muftis Council, Krasnodar regional court lifted a ban on the Russian translation of the Holy Qur'an by Elmir Kuliev.
"Krasnodar regional court reversed the judgement of Oktyabrsky district court of Novorossiysk that declared the translation of Qur'an by Elmir Kuliev "extremist", and issued a new ruling: to refuse the prosecutor in this blasphemy," said Murad Musaev to RMC press service.
Russia Muftis Council and mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin have previously spoken in defence of the Muslim Holy Scripture. A group of RMC experts has completed an expertise that was attached to the case.
The court session continued for about an hour, during which the court considered all four appeals by right advocates and private individuals of Muslim faith. Imam mukhtasib of Saint Petersburg City and Leningrad Oblast Munir hazrat Beyusov and the head of RMC department for relations with spiritual administrations of Muslims Ali hazrat Hasabov appeared in the court as witnesses.
