The play "Red Pasha" was performed at the New Stage of the Vakhtangov Theater in Moscow, marking the centenary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Saudi Arabia.

The performance is dedicated to the outstanding diplomat Karim Khakimov — a native of the Ufa province, of Tatar ethnicity, who was respectfully called "Red Pasha" in the East. It was he who, in 1926, was the first to establish diplomatic relations between Soviet Russia and the Arab world, personally presenting King Abdul Aziz ibn Saud with a note recognizing the USSR. The play was performed by actors of the Orenburg State Tatar Drama Theater named after M. Faizi.

The production was not only a cultural event but also an important act of spiritual diplomacy, consistently developed by the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation (RBM). By turning to the figure of Karim Khakimov, who stood at the origins of Russian-Saudi dialogue, the play contributes to the preservation of historical memory, the strengthening of humanitarian ties between the peoples of the two countries, and the further development of the atmosphere of mutual respect and trust that underpins modern relations between Moscow and Riyadh.

Before the performance began, welcoming addresses were delivered to the audience by Grand Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, Chairman of the RBM; H.E. Sami Mohammed Al-Sadhan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Russian Federation; Kirill Krok, Director of the Evgeny Vakhtangov State Academic Theater; and Rinat Ishmukhametov, Director of the Orenburg State Tatar Drama Theater named after Mirhaydar Faizi.

In his speech, Grand Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin highlighted that the project was the result of unique cooperation between cultural figures and the RBM. He emphasized that the union of theater, a talented director, and a spiritual mentor serves as a vivid example of how culture and faith together awaken the best human qualities and strengthen traditional moral values.

The head of the RBM reminded the audience that the play addresses the origins of friendship between Russia and Saudi Arabia, and that the image of Karim Khakimov embodies an example of true patriotism, professionalism, and respect for the culture of the peoples of the East. In his words, the outstanding diplomat worthily represented his country and defended its interests on the international stage.

The spiritual leader of Russia's Muslims paid special attention to the fact that the current year has been declared the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia. In this regard, he noted the symbolism of a Tatar theater on a Russian stage telling a story shared by all the peoples of Russia, clearly demonstrating the strength of interethnic unity and mutual respect.

In turn, Saudi Ambassador Sami Mohammed Al-Sadhan highlighted the special role of Karim Khakimov in the establishment and development of Russian-Saudi relations, emphasizing that the outstanding diplomat made great efforts to strengthen mutual understanding between the two states. The Ambassador recalled that this year marks the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Saudi Arabia, during which cooperation between the two countries has dynamically developed in political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres. He emphasized that through the joint efforts of the leadership and peoples of the two states, a solid foundation is being laid for the further development of partnership for decades to come. As examples of strengthening bilateral ties, the diplomat noted the existing visa-free regime and direct regular air services between the countries. In conclusion, Sami Mohammed Al-Sadhan expressed gratitude to Grand Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, the theater leadership, actors, and all those who participated in the creation of the play.

Kirill Krok, Director of the Evgeny Vakhtangov State Academic Theater, emphasized the symbolism of the legendary theater stage hosting a performance prepared by the company of the Orenburg State Tatar Drama Theater named after Mirhaydar Faizi. He warmly welcomed colleagues and friends from Orenburg, wished the creative team a successful performance, and thanked the actors and audience for participating in this significant cultural event.

Rinat Ishmukhametov, Director of the Orenburg State Tatar Drama Theater named after Mirhaydar Faizi, noted that the performance in Moscow was preceded by extensive preparatory work and a series of negotiations. He expressed his gratitude to Kirill Krok, Director of the Evgeny Vakhtangov State Academic Theater, for the opportunity to present the production on the New Stage, and also thanked RBM Chairman Grand Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin for his support of the project and assistance in organizing the performance. Special words of gratitude were addressed to the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Russian Federation, Sami Mohammed Al-Sadhan, for his attention to the production and participation in the event. Following the performance, the audience was addressed by the production's director — Renat Ayupov, Chief Director of the Gabdulla Kariev Kazan State Tatar Theater for Young Spectators — and the scriptwriter — Renat Abyanov, Deputy Chairman of the RBM and Honored Cultural Worker of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Renat Ayupov noted that in his creative work he often turns to the advice and guidance of Grand Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, and work on the play "Red Pasha" was no exception. He shared that one of the important artistic images in the production was that of Karim Khakimov's wife — Khadija. According to the director, the example of the strong family relationship of the Grand Mufti and his spouse served as inspiration in creating and developing this image, allowing for a deeper exploration of the theme of love, loyalty, and spiritual support that runs throughout the play.

Renat Abyanov, in turn, shared that for many years he has been inspired by the personality and life path of Karim Khakimov. He highlighted the special role of Grand Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, who at one time encouraged him to deeply study the legacy of the outstanding diplomat. According to Renat Abyanov, the play tells not only about historical events and the fate of Karim Khakimov but also about eternal human values, reminding that the Almighty always grants hope, even in the most difficult moments of life.
