On February 18, 2026, with sunset, the holy month of Ramadan begins. On this evening, the faithful perform the first Tarawih prayer, and February 19 marks the first day of fasting. On the eve of Ramadan, the Chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation, Grand Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, addressed an address to the Muslims of Russia.
"Ramadan is the most revered month in Islam and the most anticipated for all Muslims worldwide. It educates us both spiritually and physically. Ramadan cultivates in us generosity, kindness, and compassion. Our fasts are a barrier and our protection from the fire of Hell. Our prayers are the means of bringing our hearts closer to the Almighty. And the reward for all good deeds during the month of Ramadan is multiplied many times over! And we, the faithful, while observing the fast, will strive to earn all the grace, all the virtues of the holy Ramadan," says the Grand Mufti.
In his address, the spiritual leader of Russia's Muslims recalls the beautiful example of unity and brotherhood, overcoming differences based on love for Almighty Allah and His Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Such an example to all Russian society in the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia was set by Ramzan Akhmatovich Kadyrov and Suleiman Abusaidovich Kerimov.
Grand Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin prayerfully wished the statesmen blessings, mercy, well-being for their families and loved ones, and many more good deeds in their service for the benefit of our entire country.
