Deputy Chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation Mufti Rushan Abbyasov visited the Embassy of the State of Palestine, where he met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Mr. Abdelhafiz Nofal. The meeting was attended by Ildar Galeyev, Deputy Chairman of the DUM of the Russian Federation, Head of the International Department.

Rushan Hazrat conveyed to Mr. Ambassador words of greetings on behalf of the Chairman of the RBM of the Russian Federation Chief Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin and thanked for the established long-term cooperation.

During the meeting the parties discussed the current situation in Palestine, particularly in Gaza, noting with pain in their hearts its catastrophic nature. Mufti Rushan Abbyasov emphasized that the Muslims of Russia prayerfully and financially support the inhabitants of the long-suffering Palestinian land and tirelessly ask the Almighty Creator for peace and justice for Palestine and its people.

For his part, Abdelhafiz Nofal expressed his gratitude to the leadership and people of Russia, as well as personally to Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin, for the support and unwavering position on the Palestinian issue, voiced at various venues, including the Moscow Cathedral Mosque within the framework of the International Day of Al-Quds, held annually on the last Friday of Ramadan.

The participants of the meeting also touched upon the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the planned visit of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to Russia on this occasion to participate in the Victory Parade and other celebrations.
