In his address at the opening ceremony of Moscow Halal Expo 2013, Zinovii (Zalman) Kogan, head of the Congress of Jewish Religious Communities and Organizations of Russia, encouraged his coreligionists to attend the exhibition. Speaking of the necessity to eat only allowed food, he brought up a point of home cooking.
“The most halal food is the homemade food,” said Mr. Kogan. “Eat at home, and you’ll have good health and a close-knit family”.
He was supported by the Head of United League of Christians of Evangelical Faith, bishop Sergey Ryahovsky, who also stressed the importance of paying attention to halal industry and shared his own experience of eating halal food, noting its benefit for health, ecological friendliness and safety.
