In the course of International Conference of Muslim Scholars and Islamic Awakening in Iran, Chairman of the Council of Muftis of Russia mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin met with the general secretary of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening Dr Akbar Velayati.

“Our presence on this conference and our meeting with you prove that Muslims of Russia are an integral part of the Muslim world,” said mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin.

Dr Akbar Velayati expressed his high opinion of the report delivered by the Chairman of the Council of Muftis of Russia. In his turn, leader of Russian Muslims told that the topic of Islamic awakening in Russia is as relevant as ever. “After decades of atheist reign in our country we are witnessing a revival of spiritual values. In a very short timespan, more than eight thousand mosques and tens of Islamic educational institutions were established in Russia,” said mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin.

In addition to that, the sides agreed to coordinate efforts against such problems as extremism and radicalism.

Chairman of the Council of Muftis of Russia wished general secretary of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening Dr Akbar Velayati new successes and achievements and expressed his hope for further fruitful cooperation.
