Moscow Islamic University expresses its deepest concern over an attack on the car of a dean of Islamic theology department of the University, Doctor of Sharia sciences Magomedbasir Gasanov, MIU site reports.
According to the “Caucasian Politics”, the attackers fired on the car Mazda 6 belonging to Magomedbasir Gasanov. About three shots were fired from a supposedly traumatic pistol. At the moment of the attack the car was empty; there were no dead nor injured.
The site of Moscow Islamic University considers that this act of aggression is an extremely alarming signal that demands immediate reaction and investigation from the appropriate authorities. “This event took place at the same time as the investigative operation in the local religious organization Dar ul-Arkam, of which Magomedbasir Gasanov was an imam. Some commentators have already rushed to link these two events. We'd like to stress that these assumptions are emotional and are not supported by any objective evidence” - the MIU official assured.
The university went on to clarify that Dar ul-Arkam community is de jure independent from both Spiritual Administration of Muslims of European Russia and the Council of Muftis of Russia, and belongs to the central religious organization “United Muslim Congress of Russia”.
“Our university hopes for the fastest solution of this case in legal field and in abidance with the constitutional right of freedom of belief”, university official concluded.
