At the residence of the Chairman of the Council of Muftis of Russia, Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin met the academician, an Arabist and diplomat Evgeny Primakov. During the meeting, which was held in a warm atmosphere, questions were raised regarding the current political and social situation in Russia and in the world, the lives of Russian Muslims and possible ways to engage in international cooperation of our country with the Arab-Muslim world.

Yevgeny Primakov expressed the firm conviction that today the construction of mosques in Russia, in Moscow, is an objective necessity.

The main focus of today's meeting was also discussion of strengthening the unity and cohesion of Russia in the CIS in the light of the policy pursued by the Russian President Vladimir Putin and the proposals of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev regarding the common economic space of our neighboring states. It was noted that the long-standing unity of the Muslim Ummah in these neighboring areas, the common pages of history, the fraternal relations between peoples and to unify the Muslim organizations of the CIS, is a solid foundation for building mutually beneficial unity of our countries.

Mr. Primakov listened with interest to the Chairman of the Council of Muftis of Russia about the changes and trends in the field of Islamic religious education. The conversation also touched upon the topic of harmonization of interethnic and interfaith relations in Russia and in the world. The parties expressed their willingness to continue such meetings and consultations on a regular basis.

World-renowned scientist Yevgeny Primakov, who obtained at various times the positions of the Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies, the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce of the Russian Federation, in the spring of this year, was awarded the highest award of the Russian Muslims - the Medal of Honor, "Al-Fahr» I degree. This appreciation of the Muslim community in Russia is a sign of special gratitude to Academician Primakov for strengthening of cooperation between the peoples of the Russian Federation and the Arab-Muslim world, and the development of the national school of Islamic studies and develop the skills of scientists - Orientalists.
