Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin meets the Ambassador of Egypt Sheikh Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin, chairman of the RMC and RBMRF, held a meeting with Nazih Elnaghari, Egyptian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Russia, at the Moscow's Cathedral Mosque. The meeting was also attended by Rushan Abbyasov (deputy chairman for International Affairs), Ildar Galeyev (head of the International Department of the RBMRF), Marois Lashin (deputy head of the Diplomatic Mission) and Ahmed Midhat (first secretary of the Embassy).

The parties discussed cooperation and interaction between Russian and Egyptian Muslims in religious, theological, cultural, educational and scientific fields. Egypt is the largest country in the Arab world and is considered to be the centre Islamic scholarship. The RMC pursuits several cooperation areas, such as cooperation with the Egyptian fatwa council, the Ministry of Waqf and the Grand Mufti, Al-Azhar University, etc.

The participants greed that the interaction between Russian and Egyptian theologians dates back many years and is currently developing on the basis of traditions established in the days of Muhammad Abdo, Rashid Rida, Musa Bigiev and other thinkers.

The Egyptian Ambassador Nazih Elnaghari, thanked the mufti for the warm welcome, expressed a high opinion of Russia's celebration of the 1100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam and demonstrated his readiness to assist and support the development of cooperation between Russia and Egypt.
