The first deputy chairman of the Russia Muftis Council, deputy chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of Russia, Rushan Abbyasov delivered a lecture on Islam in Russia to the students of the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization at the International Islamic University of Malaysia. After that he had a meeting with Dr. Abdulaziz Burgut, Dean of the university.

Rushan Abbyasov conveyed the greetings of Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin, chairman of the RMC, and spoke about Islamic education in Russia and publishing academic and educational religious literature. The parties expressed their mutual intention to establish close ties between the International Islamic University of Malaysia and Russian Islamic universities, which may include training courses, conferences and open lectures, undergraduate and postgraduate studies etc.

After the meeting the dean offered a tour of the university and its library and informed the guest about the history and current activities of the institution.
