OIC delegation visits the Moscow Cathedral Mosque A delegation of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, headed by Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha, visited the Moscow Cathedral Mosque. The guests were received by  Rushan Abbyasov, deputy of the Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin.

The meeting was also attended by Ramazan Abdulatipov, Russia's permanent representative to the OIC, deputy Mufti Ildar Nurimanov and Ildar Galeyev, and Islam Kozhevnikov, representative of the International Department of the RBMRF.

The visit started with a prayer at the Moscow Cathedral Mosque followed by a tour of the mosque. Rushan Abbyasov noted that the mosque is often visited by distinguished guests, including those who come to Russia on state visits, and hosts the annual Quds Day, international Qur'an reciting competitions and various exhibitions. The first deputy chairman of the RMC emphasized that Russian Muslims have always been a part of the greater Islamic world and that it is very important to maintain mutually beneficial relations within the global Muslim Ummah.

The meeting continued in the Mosque Banquet Hall, where the participants discussed various issues, including those related to the development of cooperation within the OIC. Rushan Abyasov thanked Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha for the visit to Russia and emphasized its importance and relevance in the current geopolitical situation. He also informed the Secretary General that the RBMRF has been closely following the current visit of the OIC delegation to Russia, including the meetings held with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Federation Council.

Rushan Abbyasov also stressed the importance of Russia's presence at the OIC as an observer. He added that the prevention of extremist ideas was one of the most important asects of cooperation between the Muslim countries. He noted that Russian Muslims participated in international round tables and conferences on this subject, paid special attention to the contemporary means of communication, conveyed the proper understanding of Islam as a religion of peace and involved young people in volunteer activities.

At the end of the meeting the sides thanked each other for the conversation and exchanged gifts.
