The Chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation, Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin, met with the head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis on the sidelines of the 7th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, which is currenlty taking place in Nur-Sultan. Pope Francis and Mufti Ravil Gainutdin arrived in Nur-Sultan to attend the 7th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. The plenary session of the Congress was called "The Role of World and Traditional Religions Leaders in the Spiritual and Social Development of Humanity in the Post-Pandemic Period".

At the beginning of the meeting the religious leaders spoke about the publication of the Russian edition of Pope Francis' encyclical. It should be noted that the translation into Russian and publication of Pope Francis' encyclical "Fratelli tutti" ("All Brothers") dedicated to universal brotherhood and social friendship was of great importance for the interfaith dialogue. Mufti Gainutdin presented Pope Francis with a Russian edition of this work.

In addition, Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin, being the general secretary of the International Muslim Forum, proposed to hold the future session of the Forum in Rome. Pope Francis supported the idea and expressed his hope to meet in Rome.

The head of the Russian Muslims suggested offering a joint prayer for peace. Thus, a joint prayerby Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin and Pope Francis was held - "You are peace, and from You comes peace".
