Students visit the embassy of Iraq The International Department of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation organised a visit of students of the leading Moscow universities - HSE (Higher School of Economics - School of Oriental Studies) and the Lomonosov Moscow State University (Institute of Asian and African Countries) to the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq.

The event was held in the connection with the celebration of the 1100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam by the peoples of Volga Bulgaria. It should be noted that in 922 the Abbasid caliph Al Muktadir Billah sent a religious mission from Baghdad to Volga Bulgaria, which resulted in the official adoption of Islam by the peoples of Volga Bulgaria.

The students and representatives of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation were received by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iraq to the Russian Federation Abdulrahman Hamid Mohammed Al-Hussaini. During the meeting the Ambassador told the students about the current state of relationships between the countres, confessional policy in Iraq and connections of the official Islamic institutions in Iraq with the Religious Board of Muslims of Russia. He also mentioned a symbolic event — the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Sunni Endowment Office and the Religious Board of Muslims of Russia, which took place on September 25, 2019.
