The Moscow Cathedral Mosque, the residence of the Russian Muftis Council hosted a visit of a representative delegation of the Afghanistan parliament headed by the Chairman of the Council of Elders of the National Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Fazl Hadi Muslimyar.

The Deputy Mufti Hazrat Damir Gizatullin met with the guests and told them in details about the history of Islam in Russia, about the peoples professing Islam, about the changes that have brought democratic reforms in the country.

The guests, in turn, spoke about the situation in Afghanistan, about the aspirations and expectations of the Afghan people, confirmed the country's leadership their intention to strengthen relations with Russia, a country which in the twentieth century was the first to recognize the independent Afghanistan, and the partnerships which have always been mutually beneficial for the people our countries.

At the end of an interesting meeting, all the gathered performed Friday prayers in the prayer hall of the Moscow Cathedral Mosque.

The delegation of Afghan parliamentarians, staying in Russia on the basis of the program of the Federation Council of Russia, will also visit the Muslim regions of the country. In the coming days the Afghanistan parliament delegation is travelling to Bashkortostan.
