Russian representatives participate in 28th Qur'an reciting competition The 28th International Quran Recitation Competition under the patronage of the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, is currently taking place in Cairo.

This year the Quran competition in Egypt was named after one of the most famous Quran reciters in the world, Mohamed Siddiq El-Minshawi. More than 74 participants from 40 countries are participating in the event. The panel of judges consists of 12 experts, including renowned Quran scholars from Egypt and other countries.

It should be noted that during the Egyptian Quran competition the judges asses not only for the complete knowledge of the Qur'an by heart, but also its interpretation.
The Russian Federation is represented by a delegation of the Religious Board of Muslims of Russia, which includes Asliddin Sattorov, acting imam in Ryazan, and Usman Zulpukhargadzhiyev from Daghestan, as well as other participants sent by regional  religional boards. The judge from Russia is Ilyas Ilyasov, candidate of philological sciences, head of the Quran centre "Zaid ibn Sabit" under the Religious Board of the Saratov region, who trained a large number of young Quran Hafizs.

In 2020 more than 10 Quran scholars from Russia participated in the Quran reciting competition in Egypt. The delegation was headed by the Mufti of the Penza region, the Quran Hafiz Islam Dashkin, who participated in the competition as a member of the international jury.

The participation of the current delegation became possible due to personal agreements between Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin, Chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation and the Russia Muftis Council, and Muhammad Mukhtar Gomaa, Minister of Awqaf of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
