Damir Mukhetdinov meets Turkish delegates Today Damir Mukhetdinov, first deputy chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation, principal of the Moscow Islamic Institute met with Sait Yusuf, Deputy Chairman of the Presidency For Turks Abroad And Related Communities. The Turkish diplomat was accompanied by Cem Gunduz, adviser to the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Moscow, Omer Faruk Savuran, adviser on religious affairs of the Embassy of Turkey in Moscow and Abobukar Batygov, translator of the Department of Religious Affairs.

At the beginning of the meeting Damir Mukhetdinov conveyed the greetings from the religiousl leader of Russian Muslims Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin. He spoke about the history of Islam and Muslim community in Russia, as well as the activities of the RMC and its plans for the future.

Damir Mukhetdinov appreciated the potential of cooperation with the Presidency For Turks Abroad And Related Communities and spoke about strategic cooperation with the Directorate of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Turkey.

As Damir Mukhetdinov noted, in the coming years there will be celebrations devoted to significant historical anniversaries both in Russia and Turkey. In 2022 the Russian Federation will mark the 1100th anniversary of the official adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgarians, and the year 2023 will mark the 100th anniversary of the Turkish Republic.

The parties confirmed their readiness to develop constructive cooperation, including organizing and conducting joint events, publishing Islamic literature, opening mosques and madrasahs in the Russian Federation with the participation of the Turkish side.
