Rushan Abbyasov, deputy chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation and the Russian Muftis Council, met with the Lebanese Ambassador in Moscow, Mr Chawki Bou Nassar. The meeting was attended by Ildar Galeyev, head of the International Department of the RBM of the Russian Federation.

The parties were planning to discuss the cooperation between the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation and the Russian Muftis Council and Muslim organizations in Lebanon. In particular, they discussed the development of closer contacts with the Dar-al-Fatwa of Lebanon headed by the renowned Sheikh Abdulatif Darian, including the possible visit of the Sheikh to Russia (once COVID restrictions are lifted).

On behalf of the Lebanese people.Mr Chawki Bou Nassar, Ambassador of Lebanon to Russia, conveyed the best wishes to the entire Muslim Ummah of Russia led by Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin.

The parties also discussed the current political situation in the Middle East, and Mr Bou Nassar praised Russia's efforts aimed at promoting peace and establishing a dialogue.
