Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin speaks about the situation in Jerusalem The religious leader of Russian Muslims, Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin, expressed his opinion on the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict (quoted from the "Muslims of Russia" website):
"During this blessed month Muslims, including ill people and children, are being kicked out of their homes and become homeless — if this is not a provocation, then what is it? Analysts, politicians, including those in the United Nations, have condemned such a policy for a reason and also called it a provocation," said Mufti Gainutdin. He added that these actions aimed to provoke Muslims in order "to accuse Islam of extremism and terrorism afterwards".

Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin pointed out that Jerusalem was a city of peace, the cradle of the three Abrahamic religions - Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

The tragic events in Jerusalem and Gaza were mentioned in Mufti Gainutdin's festive sermon at the Moscow Cathedral Mosque.

"The sacred lands of the three Abrahamic religions - Judaism, Christianity and Islam - are under fire on the eve of the holiday. We stay indifferent to the images of this hatred in the blessed land of al-Quds - Jerusalem. The disproportionate violence, targeting of civilians and the preventing people from performing the acts of worship must be condemned. We call for dialogue and peace, not enmity and mutual destruction," he said.
