Dmir Mukhetdinov meets new Religious Affairs Counsellor of the Turkish Embassy On February 17, Damir Mukhetdinov (first deputy chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation, principal of the Moscow Islamic Institute, professor of St. Petersburg State University) met the Turkish delegation that included the newly appointed Religious Affairs Counsellor of the Turkish Embassy in Russia Omer Faruk Savuran and the Counsellor of the Embassy Mustafa Cem Gunduz.

The meeting was held at the leading Russian Muslim university — the Moscow Islamic Institute. The meeting was also attended by Rais Yanglichev (employee of the Department of Religious Affairs of the Embassy of Turkey in Moscow), and Damir Khairetdinov  (deputy chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation for education, science and culture).

The parties discussed certain aspects of bilateral cooperation, including those related to Islamic education, advanced training for imams, book publishing, conducting joint academic conferences, as well as the participation of Turkish representatives in the events organized by the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation and the Moscow Islamic Institute.

It should be reminded that on January 17, the religious leader of Russian Muslims, Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin, received Omar Faruk, Counsellor of the Turkish Embassy in Russia, at the Moscow Cathedral Mosque. The parties expressed a high opinion of the relations between the Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Erdogan, which are marked by a high level of trust.
