An Indonesian delegation led by the well-known religious and public figure of Indonesia, Professor Imam Suprayogo, chairman of the Muslim organization Jamiyyatul Islamiyah, visited the Russian Muftis Council. The delegation included principals of Islamic universities, as well as representatives of academic communities of Indonesia.

The delegation was received by Rushan Abbyasov, First Deputy Chairman of the Russian Muftis Council.

At the beginning of the meeting, Rushan Abbyasov conveyed greetings on behalf of the Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin and spoke about current cooperation and relations with the Muslim community of Indonesia, the successful implementation of joint cultural and educational projects and participation in the events organized by both parties.

“I would like to mention the successful implementation of the international project of the Russian Muftis Council, which is the photo exhibition “ Islamic traditions in Russia ”. It was held in the capital of Indonesia, Jakarta. The opening ceremony was attended by ministers and leaders of the largest Islamic organizations in Indonesia. The exhibition attracted more than 15,000 residents and guests of Jakarta. The event was timed to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Russian-Indonesian relations," he said.

The parties signed  a memorandum of understanding, which is meant to expand cooperation in the religious sphere, to enhance cooperation between the parties and to establish the intercultural dialogue.
