UN Deputy Secretary General visits Moscow Cathedral Mosque UN Deputy Secretary General Maimunah Mohd Sharif visited the Moscow Cathedral Mosque during her Moscow visit. The UN Deputy Secretary General is participating t in the Moscow Urban Forum, which takes place July 4-7 in the Zaryadye Park. The high guest was received by the First Deputy Chairman of the Russia Muftis Council and the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation Rushan Abbyasov; Deputy Chairman of the Religious Board of the Russian Federation Rafik Fattahetdinov; head of the International Department Ildar Galeyev.

Rushan Abbyasov conveyed greetings on behalf of the Chairman of the RMC, Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, and informed the guest about the history of the Cathedral Mosque, the life of Muslim communities in Moscow, and the activities of Islamic institutions.

Maimunah Mohd Sharif performed a prayer in the mosque and expressed her admiration with the interior and exterior of the country's main Muslim temple located in the very center of Moscow.

After the tour and prayers, the parties continued their conversation in a restaurant at the Moscow Cathedral Mosque. Maimunah Mohd Sharif thanked the RMC representatives for the warm welcome.
