Today Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin met the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lebanese Republic in Moscow, Chawki Bou Nassar, accompanied by Abdellah Rahim, an embassy official.

The meeting was attended by Rushan Abbyasov, First Deputy Chairman of the RMC, and Damir Mukhetdinov, First Deputy Chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation.

During the meeting, the parties shared their views on a number of major issues related to the Middle East, focusing on the situation in Lebanon and the neighboring countries. The parties expressed their readiness to support unity, territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Arab Muslim states.

“Such matters as the unique geographical location of Lebanon, overall situation in the region, ongoing Syrian crisis, non-compliance with UN Security Council decisions on a number of issues, unilateral decisions on Jerusalem, require immediate attention and consolidated action in order to curb the further escalation of conflicts in the region,” said Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin.

The leader of Russian Muslims spoke about the development of cooperation in the fields of economics, industry and culture. The parties discussed the issues of bilateral cooperation between Russia and Lebanon in the religious sphere, which should cover academic and publishing activities, Islamic finance and business, tourism.

A special emphasis was put on the international project of the Russian Muftis Council and the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation “Public Dialogue: Russia-Arab World”., The International Public Forum, whose motto was “From dialogue to partnership and stable peace”,  brought together prominent cultural figures, artists, academicians, education workers, media and business representatives from Arab countries.

“Thanks to the joint efforts of the Russian government and the support of the Head of the region S.V. Aksenov, we managed to conduct a number of events on the sidelines of the 5th Yalta International Economic Forum. The guests from Arab countries had the opportunity to get acquainted with the Republic of Crimea, to discover its cultural and economic potential, ”said Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin.

He highly appreciated the contribution of Mr. Ambassador Chawki Bou Nassar to the development and organization of the International Forum “Public Dialogue: Russia-Arab World”.

“We thank all Lebanese guests and participants, businessmen, social activists and journalists who attended our event. We would like to express our gratitude to Lebanese partners represented by the Public Forum of the Arab Culture of Lebanon, ”said Mufti, stressing the importance of the discussions and  agreements both for Russia and Lebanon.
