Rushan Abbyasov meets Muhammadiyah representatives Rushan Abbyasov, First Deputy Chairman of the Russia Mufties Council and the Spiritual Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation, met the Chairman of the Indonesian Islamic organization Muhammadiyah Heydar Nashir during his visit to Indonesia.

Muhammadiyah is one of the largest Indonesian organizations with about 40 mln members. The organization is engaged in different social, educational, and charitable activities, carries out healthcare projects and covers 176 Islamic universities in Indonesia.

At the beginning of the meeting, Rushan Abbyasov conveyed greetings from Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin and thanked for the invitation. He went on to speak about the life of Russian Muslims,  the projects implemented by the RMC, and invited the Chairman of the Muhammadiyah organization and its other members to attend the photo exhibition called Traditions of Islam in Russia, which opened on February 26 in Jakarta.

The parties discussed the dimensions of cooperation in the educational, cultural and religious spheres. Heydar Nashir suggested that the Russian representatives should deliver a series of lectures on the history and traditions of the Russian Muslims at the universities of Muhammadiyah.

The parties agreed that Russia and Indonesia are strengthening their connections and enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation. They also noted that the countries managed to  reach agreements with regard to numerous important issues. The parties are planning to develop the cooperation between Muhammadiyah and the Russian Mufties Council in the same productive way.
