On Tuesday, October 9, the First Deputy Chairman of the Council of Muftis of Russia and the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation, Rushan Abbyasov, received a delegation of the Republic of Iraq headed by Ali Farhan, Governor of the Al-Anbar province. The members of the delegation visited the mosque within the framework of their visit to Russia. The meeting was also attended by Ahmed Azimov (Advisor to the RMC Chairman) and Salem Zalam (expert officer of the RMC International Department).

At the beginning of the meeting, Rushan Abbyasov greeted the guests on behalf of the religious leader of Russian Muslims Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin. He informed the delegates about the history and development of Islam in Russia, as well as projects and programs carried out by Russian Muslims, and also familiarized them with Islamic education in the country. The guests had an opportunity to know more about about the key areas of Islamic education development, teaching methods, activities held in madrasas, opening of new educational institutions.

After that the guests were offered a guided tour around the Moscow Cathedral Mosque. Rushan Abbyasov informed them about the history of the mosque and demonstrated some of the museum showpieces.

At the end of the meeting the delegates thanked the Russian party for the warm welcome and expressed hope for further development of relations between Russia and Iraq.
