Cooperation of Russian and Uzbek Muslims
A meeting of the First Deputy Chairman Russia Muftis Council and the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation, Rushan Abbyasov, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Russia, Bakhrom Ashrafkhanov, took place in the embassy of Uzbekistan. The meeting was also attended by the Chairman of the Council of the Uzbek National Cultural Autonomy of Moscow Habib Abdullayev, the head of the International Department of the Russia Muftis Council Ildar Galeyev, and the staff of the embassy of Uzbekistan.

In the beginning, Rushan Abbyasov conveyed greetings on behalf of the religious leader of Russian Muslims, Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, to Mr. Ambassador and discussed with him the ways to strengthen bilateral Russian-Uzbek relations in the religious sphere.

In particular, he informed the Ambassador about the events held within the framework of the international project of the Russia Muftis Council "Spiritual Silk Road", and spoke about cooperation with the religious boards and relevant institutions of the Eurasian countries. "Within the framework of this project the heads of Religious Boards, religious figures, heads of relevant government institutions and experts have the opportunity to discuss topical issues and to seek solutions” , said Rushan  Abbyasov.

The Ambassador demonstrated a great interest in the "Podmoskovye, Navigator" media project, which is being implemented jointly with the government of the Moscow Region, and is also published in the Uzbek language.

During the meeting the parties also discussed possible cooperation in Islamic tourism and halal industry. "The development of Islamic tourism in Uzbekistan is one of our priorities. We have worked hard with the governments of Malaysia and Indonesia. We will be happy to welcome Russian tourists willing to see Muslim shrines, ancient mosques and mausoleums in Uzbekistan, "said Bakhrom Ashrafkhanov.

The parties stressed the need to expand and to deepen cooperation between the Russian Muftis Council and the Religious Board of Muslims of Uzbekistan.

At the end of the meeting Rushan Abbyasov gave the Ambassador of Uzbekistan the theological work "Kalandar-name" of the Golden Horde era.
