Religious leaders of Russia and Tajikistan meet in Moscow A meeting between the religious leader of Muslims of Russia, Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, and the Chairman of the Council of Ulema of the Islamic Center of Tajikistan, Mufti Saidmukarram Abdukodirzoda, took place today in the Moscow Cathedral Mosque. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Russian Muftis Council and the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation (DUM RF), the Council of Ulema of Tajikistan, the Committee for Religious Affairs of Tajikistan, the Embassy of Tajikistan in Russia, employees of the representative office of the Ministry of Labor, Migration and Employment population of Tajikistan in the Russian Federation.

In his welcoming speech Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin expressed gratitude to the Mufti of Tajikistan for his visit to Russia, adding that the Muslims of Russia and Tajikistan had always maintained good relations.

During the meeting the parties discussed bilateral cooperation, opening a representative office of the Tajik religious administration in Moscow in order to coordinate bilateral contacts between religious institutions, developing mechanisms for systematic and consistent work with ethnic Tajiks who attend the mosques in Moscow and Russian regions.

"Islamic organizations of Russia and Tajikistan need to intensify educational work among migrants aimed at demonstrating the true values of Islam, which are far from radicalism and extremism. Undoubtedly, signing the memorandum of understanding and cooperation between the Russian Muftis Council and the Council of Ulemas of Tajikistan will take bilateral relations to a whole new level and will allow to develop the necessary tools for productive collaboration ", — said Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin.

For his part, the head of the Council of Ulemas, Sheikh Saidmukarram Abdukodirzoda, thanked for the warm welcome and expressed a high opinion of the activities of the Russian religious boards led by Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin. He  expressed full confidence in Russian colleagues and readiness to deepen bilateral contacts and relations for the benefit of the both nations.

During the conversation a special attention was paid to the International Scientific and Theological Conference entitled "The Spiritual Silk Road", which was successfully held in China and Russia, and is going to take place in Kyrgyzstan next year.

"The Spiritual Silk Road is a platform for sensible religious forces of the Eurasian space, which is meant to preserve our religious traditions, the Hanafi madhab and the Maturidic aqida. The common ritual practice brings together the Muslims of China, the countries of Central Asia, Russia, Finland and the Baltic countries”, — said Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin.
At the end of the meeting Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin,  conveyed the greetings of Russian Muslims to the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, wishing prosperity to the country and the Tajik people, after which the religious leaders of Russia and Tajikistan attended a Friday congregational prayer.
