Members of Turkish Parliament visit Russian Muftis Council Members of the Turkish Parliament visited the residence of the Russian Muftis Council and the Religious Board of Russian Muslims, where they met mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin. The delegation was led by Celaleddin Guvenc, head of the International department of the Great National Assembly of Turkey.

The meeting was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkey in Russia, Huseyin Dirioz, Vural Kavuncu, head of the Commission of Healthcare, Family and Labour of the Turkish parliament, and Fatma Didem Hasturk.

The parties gave a high appraisal of Russian-Turkish relations in the religious field and cooperation between the Russian Muslims Council and the Directorate of Religious Affairs of Turkey. During the meeting the parties discussed current projects and programmes of the Russian Muftis Council, ways of strengthening and expanding cooperation with Turkish academic, governmental, scientific and religious organizations. The participants also discussed the Middle East issue, emphasizing the positive role of cooperation between Russia and Turkey in peace-making, coordinating efforts aimed at solving regional conflicts and fighting against international terrorism.

After the meeting the Turkish delegated received gifts and proceeded to visit the Moscow Cathedral Mosque to perform a prayer.
