Mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin meets Tariq Ramadan Mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, head of the Russian Muftis Council and the Religious Board of Muslims of Russia, met Tariq Ramadan, Professor of Contemporary Islamic Studies and teacher at the Faculty of Theology and Religion.

During the meeting mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin welcomed the guest and emphasized that Russian Muslims were aware of his academic and educational activity, as well as his work in the field of human rights.

“Thank you for your activities aimed at spreading true Islamic values. We are happy that there is a European scholar who represents Islam in a proper way. You incite the Western world to be more respectful towards Muslims. We remember your last visit to Russia, when the Russian translation of your book entitled “In the footsteps of the Prophet” was presented in the Moscow Cathedral Mosque. This book resonated with the Russian readers”, —said mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin.

The mufti also told the guest about activities conducted by the Russian Muftis Council and the Religious Board if Muslims of Russia, including the International Muslim Forum, which will take place this December in Helsinki, and the international conference “Spiritual Silk Road”.

When speaking about the Group of strategic vision “Russia — Islamic world” chaired by Rustam Minnikhanov, President of Tatarstan, mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin noted that the Islamskaya Kniga and Medina publishing houses issue books in the framework of this cooperation. He said that these publishing houses have published thousands of books that help people understand our religion — religious of peace and kindness — in the right way.

Professor Tariq Ramadan said he was happy to visit Russia again and had heard about the activity of local Muslims. “Dear mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, I admire things that the Russian Muftis Council and the Religious Board of Muslims of Russia do, as well as your personal contribution to the religious life of Russian Muslims” — he said.

During the meeting Mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin gave a medal of Russian Muslims to Tariq Ramadan, Professor of Contemporary Islamic Studies and teacher at the Faculty of Theology and Religion, and wished him success in his activities.

The parties agreed to continue cooperation aimed at spreading true values of Islam.
