Mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin meets Ambassador of Switzerland In his residence in the Moscow Cathedral Mosque mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin met Yves Rossier, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland in Moscow.

The meeting was also attended by Rushan hazrat Abbyasov, first deputy chairman of the RMC, and Ildar Galeyev, head of the international department.

Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin presented the image of the Russian Islam to the guests, speaking about the history of this religion in czarist and Soviet days. The guests expressed interest in large-scale projects of the Russia Muftis Council and the Spiritual Board of Muslims of Russia, such as the “Waqf” fund of the Russia Muftis Council, which was one of the founders of the International Forum on Waqf Affairs in Geneva. The chairman of the organization, Omar Hafiz, is the advisor of the President of the Islamic Development Bank.

The parties discussed questions related to fighting against terrorism and extremism, analysed the causes of occurrence of these phenomena in the society and circumstance that make these phenomena more appealing to the youth. The participants expressed the unanimous opinion that terrorism and extremism were caused by ignorance.

The parties agreed that they had to join forces in order to combat extremism and decided to share their experience.

“We are currently cooperating with religious organizations in Europe. We have conducted the Muslim International Forum in London, this year it will take place in Helsinki. European Muslims are interested in the Russian experience, and we are ready to share it”, — said the head of the RMC and the SBMRF.
