A delegation of the Muslim Religious Council of Poland headed by its chairman Tomasz Miśkiewicz came to Crimea on an official three-day visit. On June 24, mufti of Crimea Emirali hajji Ablaev welcomed Polish delegation in the residency of Crimean muftiate. The Polish guests are accompanied on their trip by the deputy chairman of Russia Muftis Council Damir Muhetdinov.
The meeting was also attended by the advisor of Polish mufti Ravshan hajji Rzaev. The parties discussed immediate problems of Crimean Tatar nation in this transitional period, the state of Muslims and the cooperation between the Muslim communities of Poland and Republic of Crimea.
Mufti Tomasz Miśkiewicz told of the experience of accommodating Crimean Tatar refugees after March events. About 60 people left Crimea for Poland, and the Muslim community of the country together with authorities helped them with accommodation and work.
It is worth reminding that the nation of Polish-Lithuanian Tatars (Lipka Tatars) descends from the Tatars of Crimea.
The delegation of Polish Muslims plans to meet the leader of the Mejlis of Crimean Tatar People Refat Chubarov, visit the Parliament of the Republic of Crimea and get acquainted with religious and cultural heritage of modern Crimean Tatars.
Close contacts between Russian and Polish Muslims began in April 2014, and already in June Mufti of Poland Tomasz Miśkiewicz visited Moscow. During that historical visit Russia Muftis Council and the Muslim Religious Council of Poland signed a memorandum of understanding.
