On July 28, Muslim world celebrated Eid al-Fitr, feast of breaking the fast that marks the end of the blessed month of Ramadan. Acting in accordance with the laws of God and His last messenger, department of social, charity, spiritual and educational activities of Russia Muftis Council and the Spiritual Administration of Muslims visited the Muslim convicts of Moscow Butyrka prison.
Muslim organizations arranged Eid prayer, distributed presents, conveyed the congratulations and guidance words from the head of Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Moscow Ildar hazrat Alyautdinov.
This wasn't the first time an initiative like that was carried out, but previously it had been organized only occasionally. But from now onwards, Russia Muftis Council and the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Moscow will organize visits to penitentiary facilities on both Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, arrange Eid prayers and give away presents to make Muslims convicts feel their unity with the rest of their religious brethren more often.
Department of spiritual, educational, social and charitable activities of Russia Muftis Council and the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Moscow consider that people serving long prison sentences need support, and it's only laudable if they turn to religion and don't lose their faith. The most important thing is that they don't repeat their past errors and mistakes and become law-abiding citizens of our country after getting released from prison.
