The fact of reprinting the caricatures on the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) by the magazine “Russian Newsweek” draw indignation within Russia Mufties Council. “Together with Christians, Jews and Buddhists we have always built brotherly relations based on mutual respect. We hope that the Russian society will continue to develop by the way of tolerance, respect of culture, traditions and religions of own people”, - mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin numerously stated in his speeches.

The initial publication of the provocational material in a Danish edition Jyllands-Posten led to a series of disturbances all over the world, as a result the Denmark was seriously injured economically and politically. The editorial staff and the director of the “Russian Newsweek” Michael Fishman were aware of the negative consequences of the publication of the provocative material.

Such publications are a serious insult to religious feelings of each Muslim, similarly to any insult to a relic of any religion. Such publication much be prosecuted as they can lead to a serious interconfessional conflict.

Russia Mufties Council satisfyingly received the news that the office on combating extremism of the Public Prosecution Office will check the magazine “Russian Newsweek” for the fact of the publication of the caricatures on the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Only by mutual efforts it is possible to [prevent international and interconfessional misunderstanding and to preserve peace and stability in our country, in our mutual home – the Planet Earth.
