The chairman of Russian Mufties Coucnil Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin addressed Mr. Hamid Awaluddin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Indonesia, condolences to the victims of the disaster in Sumatra and Java:

Dear Mr. Ambassador!

On behalf of the Russian Mufties Council and myself, I want to express my deepest condolences for the tragedy that occurred in the eruption of Merapi volcano and the tsunami that struck the coast of western Sumatra.

Russian Muslims saddened to hear of the death of large numbers of people and missing persons.

We pray to the Almighty Creator of the repose of the souls of your fellow countrymen. We wish you and the citizens of your country's firmness, patience and courage in overcoming tragedy.

Please convey our condolences and words of support from  Russian Muslims to the families and friends of the victims and our wishes for the restoration of spiritual, moral and physical forces suffered in connection with the case of a disaster.
