Sheikh Muhammad Sadik Muhammad Yusuf passed away Sad news arrived from the capital of Uzbekistan: Sheikh Muhammad Sadik Muhammad Yusuf, mufti of Uzbekistan, famous Islamic scholar, co-founder and member of the Secretaries Council of the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) passed away on 63rd year of his worldly life. This bitter loss concerns not only our brothers and sisters in Uzbekistan.

Muslims of Russia will pray in the mosques together, asking the Almighty Creator to welcome the soul of our brother in Paradise and bestow upon him His limitless mercy and compassion.

Mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, spiritual leader of Russia's Muslims, sent his first deputy Damir hazrat Muhatdinov to Taskhent to take part in a funeral prayer and a lying-in-state and conveyed with him his sincere condolences to the family and the close ones of the late sheikh and the whole Ummah:

I express my deepest condolences on the departure from life of my dear teacher, respected and revered sheikh Muhammad Sadik Muhammad Yusuf and mourn over him along his family and close friends. Verily, we belong to God and to Him is our return.

Ustad Muhammad Sadik returned to his Creator, leaving behind him hundreds and thousands of disciples, dozens of theological works and a whole life devoted to studies and spread of the true Islamic knowledge.

Among the disciples of the late sheikh are tens of Muslim religious scholars and leaders of modern Russia who had the luck to attend Islamic religious universities in Uzbekistan during Soviet times. Sheikh Muhammad Sadik Muhammad Yusuf was always with the people, never separating himself from other believers. While working as a lecturer and a rector of Tashkent Islamic University, while being mufti of Central Asia and Kazakhstan, people's deputy of the USSR and a scholar, our dear ustad always took on the work that was most important for the believers at that time, no matter how hard it was. In these minutes I, just as many of my comrades, pray for the soul of our dear sheikh and ask Almighty God to bestow upon him His limitless mercy. Amen!

Mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin
