Every day, millions of Muslims all around the word study Qur’an. Already on September 15, Concert Hall “Rossiya” will host XIV Moscow International Qur’an Reciting Competition under the patronage of Chairman of Russia Muftis Council mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin and under the auspices of Moscow City Government, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
The contest will bring together well-known huffaz from over 30 countries. It will be held in nomination “Hifz. Recitation of Qur’an by Heart”. The history of Moscow International Qur’an Reciting Competition dates back over a decade.
The first contest was held in Russian capital in year 2000. The event took place in Moscow Jum’ah Mosque. By 2003, the contest had already reached regional level, and in 2005 it became national. In 2007, the contest obtained International rank and the jury had incorporated Qur’an reciters and huffaz from Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Tunis and Russia. Last year’s contest was won by Marzouk Houssem from Tunis.
