Meeting of diplomats' spouses takes place in Moscow Cathedral Mosque A meeting between the spouses of heads of diplomatic missions took place in the Moscow Cathedral Mosque. It is the first meeting that brought together female diplomats and wives of heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Moscow. It should be noted that the wives of the ambassadors of over 35 countries attended the event: Bahrain, Iraq, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Lebanon, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, Austria, Greece, Bangladesh, Indonesia, USA, Brunei, Paraguay, Slovakia, India, Panama, Kyrgyzstan, Brazil, Madagascar, Ecuador, Czech Republic, Albania, Lithuania, United Kingdom, Poland, Cote-d’Ivoire. Among the attendees there were the Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of South Africa, Mongolia, Netherlands.

Rushan hazrat Abbyasov, first deputy chairman of the Russian Muftis Council and the Spiritual Board of Muslims of Russia conveyed the greetings from the religious leader of Russian Muslims, mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, and spoke about the history of Islam in Russia, stages of the Moscow Cathedral Mosque construction, charity and educational activities of the RMC and the SBMRF.

He also expressed condolences with regard to the terrorist attach in Manchester and emphasized that Islam has nothing in common with terrorism and promotes only kindness and good neighbourly relations.

“The Moscow Cathedral Mosque is not also a place of worshipping, but also a social, cultural and scientific centre. We are happy to familiarize the family of diplomats, who work for the benefit of relationships between Russia and their countries, with the programmes, activities and events, and to invite them to cooperation and joint projects”, — said Rushan hazrat.

The spouse of the Ambassador of Kuwait, Ms Afrah Al-Faddagi, spoke on behalf of the ambassadors’ wives and thanked mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin for the opportunity to visit the Cathedral mosque.

“On behalf of this meeting’s participants I would like to express gratitude for the warm welcome and hope for further cooperation in humanitarian and cultural areas”, — said Ms Al-Faddagi in her speech.  

The chairwoman of the Council of Muslim women of Russia, Naila Ziganshina, spoke about the organization’s activity in different regions of the country. В

Galli Monastyreva, chairwoman of the Comission for development of interethnic relations and ethnic tourism, and Guzel Mubinova, head of the Moscow branch of the Council of Muslim women of Russia, spoke about the activity of the Russian Interfaith women’s Council.
