Chairman of Russia Muftis Council Mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin met with the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Palestine in Russia Abdel Hafiz Nofal in his residency in Moscow Jum'ah Mosque. This was the first meeting between the spiritual head of Russia's Muslims and the new Palestinian ambassador.

The meeting was attended by the plenipotentiary minister of the embassy Khaled Al Miary, first RMC and SAM RF deputy chairman Rushan hazrat Abbyasov and head of the International department Ildar Galeev.

During the meeting, parties exchanged their views on the prospects of developing Russian-Palestinian relations and Middle East peacemaking process.

The key topic was the forthcoming visit of the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, who will come to the Russian capital to take part in the solemn opening ceremony of Moscow Jum'ah Mosque.

Both parties agreed that the coming celebrations devoted to the opening of the mosque with the attendance of President Vladimir Putin who approved the construction several years ago will demonstrate the whole world the unity of Russia's peoples and the nation's leadership, and will further promote the influence of Russia in the Muslim world. Celebrations in the Russian capital will be attended by heads of many foreign states, heads of governments and delegations of prominent religious, political and community leaders.
